Infineon acquires India's C2i Semiconductor to strengthen AI data center power supply capabilities
Infineon officially announced on August 24th the acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a chip design company headquartered in Bangalore, India. The specific transaction amount has not been disclosed to the public. C2i Semiconductor focuses on the research and development of "software-defined multi-phase controllers" and "intelligent power levels" technologies. Its core technology is to optimize power conversion in real time through algorithms and system telemetry, enabling the power supply system to cope with the drastic load changes of AI processors. Infineon's move is intended to combine C2i's digital power expertise with its own combined advantages in power semiconductors such as silicon, silicon carbide, and gallium nitride, to fill the "last mile" of power supply from the grid to the chip in AI data centers. As the power consumption of AI computing clusters continues to rise, power management has become one of the most critical bottlenecks in data center infrastructure. Infineon further consolidates its layout in the AI power sector through this acquisition.
